Beautiful unfolding, ethereal techno from Japan’s Susumu Yokota on Dr Motte’s Space Teddy records 1994. Yokota was signed by Sven Vath in 1992 and was the first Japanese artist to play at the Berlin Love Parade in 1993. His releases vary from techno/house to ambient and even a touch of retro disco action.

This friday i’m teaming up with the six-legged groove machine that are Surround Around Sound for a benefit gig at Ota’s. “That’s very good natured of you” i hear you cry “are you helping stop global warming, or maybe aiding Romanian orphans?” Well, erm not really, we’re helping kids draw cartoons. And a worthy cause it is too. We’re creating a sonic wall for mainstream resistance, and fueling the romanian capital’s underground artistic scene whose form takes the unassuming shape of a folded a5 fanzine called ZI-NE. Don’t be fooled by it’s pretty pictures and engaging prose, for it will change the way you look at the world for ever, and before you know it you’ll be throwing your shopping at the bemused till attendant of your local supermarket whilst exclaiming “I just can’t take it anymore.”

Lean against the mundane, this friday at Ota’s, from 10pm. All donations for the cause humbly accepted.

The night was requesting everyone pulled down their pants at least once, and with Sherifu’s porno screenings going on in his filthy back room I felt it only fitting to provide a suitable dirty soundtrack.
